The Dakotas and Hiking in Theodore Roosevelt National Park
Wow is what I have to say about the last couple of days. Every day, I ask myself which states have been my favorite to visit and I realize how difficult it is to choose only one state. Each state has its own characteristics and history and therefore it's impossible to choose only one. We arrived in Rapid City, South Dakota on Tuesday evening and decided to stay two nights in town before continuing our drive to North Dakota.
A quick lunch stop
Driving through the Dakotas has been such an incredible experience. South Dakota was very flat whereas North Dakota had a few rocky mountains. In Rapid City, SD we found president statues in every intersection. In North Dakota driving west on I-94, we saw drilling and pumping of oil from underground wells.
When we arrived in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, I was lucky enough to explore the park and did a fairly short hike with the dogs at the Painted Canyon Nature Trail.
After some days in the country, it was time for some city life experience in Minnesota.
