Today, I've been all over the place. I've been driving back and fourth between Shoreline to Seattle to Lynnwood back to Shoreline to Seattle, and now I'm in Bellevue. Puh.. The reason why I'm driving around is because I'm going on a roadtrip this upcoming weekend and I've a long list of things to do beforehand. I cannot remember last time I had vacation - it's very much needed.
Let me tell you about my roadtrip! I have a goal to visit all states in the U.S. before I turn 40. So far I've been to 23 states, and on this roadtrip, I plan to visit another 10 (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, and Utah). I'm bringing all three dogs with me on the roadtrip as well as my mom. My sweet mom got excited to make a stop in Idaho to eat Idaho potatoes, which is her favorite. The word excitement is underestimated for this trip.
A planner as I am, I've the entire trip all mapped out, from leaving the apartment to every single stop. Of course, I'll be open to some spontaneity as that's what life is all about! Although, in order to see as much as possible and not missing any historical sites, planning is the key. I remember when my ex-husband and I were going to New York City. He had never been there so I was excited to show him around. I sent him a schedule with all the details I had mapped out for us including all the tourists must-see sites, trendy restaurants, and breaks in between. When he looked at the schedule, he thought I was crazy, but I was totally serious about it. I'll never forget when we were at a coffeeshop at Columbus Circle and all of a sudden, I stood up and told him it was time to leave because we were already behind schedule. Poor guy, he probably wondered what he had let himself into...
Manhattan trying on outfits for our trip
Treated myself a bit extra with a visit to the hair salon getting more blonde,
I am indeed The Blonde Dog Mom.
In less than a week, I'll be visiting Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Mount Rushmore and hiking in the Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, and Rocky Mountains. I want to pinch my arm so I understand it's real. I'll make sure to bring the 10 essentials for hiking and bear spray. A reminder to myself to visit REI one more time before we leave.
